Notes:

1. Unit conversions in streams
   • Could cause confusion (model units are different from i/o units)
   • Should require writing meta-data (i.e. units attribtue) to fields before this
   • Could add the scale factor attribute to document this
   • Should add an attribute to document what a scale factor is for (i.e. m/s -> mm/yr)
   • Scale factor "seems" to be handled by netcdf libraries automatically
   • Should put together a design document
2. Error module
   • Putting together a design document to scope adding an error handling module
   • Could think about combining this design with a design for errors on different processors
3. Aggregated halo exchanges
   • Putting together a design document to scope adding aggregated halo exchanges
4. Filter infrastructure comments
   • Would like to understand how to create generic filters
5. Region capabilities
   • Could set up a repository that defines regions / transects / etc.
   • A tool at the top level can aggregate regions / transects /etc together into a "region" file
   • Another tool can take the region file, and an MPAS mesh, and output a "mask" file for the specific mesh
