Chatrooms
Our online activity is mostly focused on our chatrooms. Because there are people among us with various preferences regarding the chat technologies used, the same chatrooms are available in form of Matrix and Telegram channels – bridged with each other. Currently (mid-May 2024), definitely the most popular chat system among us is Telegram – but thanks to bridging also Matrix and IRC users participate in the discussions.
If you feel a need to bridge another chat system, please read the disclaimer.
The language we usually use on our chatrooms is Polish, but don't fear posting in English. Most of us can speak it well and we'll switch to English whenever there is such a need. Some of us can also speak at least some Russian, German, French or Esperanto.
Telegram | t.me/hakierspejs |
Matrix | #hs-ldz:hackerspace.pl |
Our main tool of communication. We talk here about topics related to the life of our Hackerspace society and about everything at least loosely related to IT, open source, science and technology. We are trying to avoid topics which might be controversial.
Telegram | t.me/hsl_info |
Matrix | #hs-ldz-24:hackerspace.pl |
Hackerspace announcement board. On Telegram it's turned into slow mode, each user can send at most a single message every 15 minutes. We post here all important information, questions and notifications about changes. A good practice is not muting this channel.
Telegram | t.me/hakierspejs_spam |
Matrix | #hs-ldz-offtopic:hackerspace.pl |
The second HSŁ channel, for talks on more loose topics and for posting memes. The name comes from the unicorn of Łódź.
We aren't posting the link deliberately – but it's not difficult to find. |
A channel with the moderation limited to the minimum, out of the control of the Association authorities. You can write about politics and controversial issues. If you have doubts if you can post something on the main channel – the best idea is to do it here.
Telegram | t.me/joinchat/UYf2ONtNj21J1DS6 |
Matrix | #hs-ldz-spacerspejs:hackerspace.pl |
Though it may seem different, one sometimes has to leave the basement. Even a hacker needs fresh air. This channel is for arranging walks and trips and for posting live photos from interesting places in the real world.
Telegram | t.me/+3A84Gc2v__A2MWM0 |
Matrix | #hs-ldz-ai:matrix.org |
The channel for all topics related to AI. Made not to overload the main channel with AI-related topics.
Telegram | https://t.me/hslodz_3d |
Matrix | #hs-ldz-druk3d:matrix.org |
Chatroom for talking about 3D printing. Originally created due to 3D printing workshops that we organized. Soon it turned into a channel dedicated to the hackerspace's 3D printing infrastructure, due to the increasing number of printers, people interested and related projects.
Telegram | (pending) |
Matrix | #hsl-ham-radio:matrix.org |
Chatroom for talking about radio and the activity of the hackerspace's ham radio club – SP7HACK.
Telegram | https://t.me/hakierspejs_cryptoparty |
Matrix | #hakierspejs-ctf:matrix.org |
Chatroom related to the events organized in cooperation with Hack The Box, on which we are learning to solve CTFs.
Telegram | t.me/hslodzbot |
Matrix | #hs-ldz-machines:matrix.org |
A channel used for testing bots. Also various technical notifications are sent on it, for example about failures or restarts of various bots. Of course it can also be used as the third channel for discussions, if there is such a need. Mod permissions are granted to everyone who asks for them.
Apart from those, there are also several internal channels that we use for coordination during events, trips or infrastructure management -- for obvious reasons we don't list those on the public Wiki.
According to the do-ocracy philosophy – if you don't like any of the mentioned chat systems, there is nothing wrong if you bridge another. Mind that it's best to bridge with IRC or Matrix, as on Telegram bots cannot see other bots (and this way by bridging your channel with Telegram, you won't be able to see the posts coming from the Matrix bridge). Currently (in May 2024), for bridging Matrix and Telegram with each other, we are using Matterbridge, which makes it easy to bridge other chat systems – but remember that this may be out of date; the architecture of our bridges has already changed multiple times.
