HI I TALK A LOT AND OCCASIONALLY STRUGGLE TO CONVEY INFORMATION WITHOUT RAMBLING SO IF THIS GUIDE IS CONFUSING OR YOU THINK IT COULD BE WORDED BETTER, PLEASE GET IN CONTACT WITH ME!

The BG3 Body Tool is a hackjob Blender library that will allow you to utilise shapekeys to morph gear from one body shape to another. This includes standard tall body sizes used by Humans/Elves/Half-Elves, Githyanki, Tiefling, and Dragonborn, and between genders. Support for shorter races is being looked into but not guaranteed (please don't kick me in the ankle, halflings, I promise there's a good reason for it).

There really isn't any limit to how many times you can morph a piece of gear, but this isn't perfect- it won't magically get rid of badonkadonk cups when you morph to a masculine body. I'll cover mitigation as well, but TL;DR YMMV.

As of the writing of this documentation, the bodies supported are:

  • Vanilla talls
  • Transmasc (BT1)
  • Plus (BT2)
  • Transfemme (BT2)
  • Plus Size Tav (BT1)

If you're a body mod maker, or you use a personal shape, and you want it added to make your life easier, all you need to do is send me a .blend file with the mesh (and please maybe buy my poor ass a coffee). Adding and updating is fairly fast when I'm able to be on my PC and I'm happy to add to the tool whenever (I may also just go ahead and add bodies I find on Nexus when I'm bored so yay).

**Any gendered terminology I use in this guide, while avoided where possible, is in line with internal game usage (eg Female for body types 1 and 3, Male for body types 2 and 4) so if this is an issue for you, please take it up with Larian. I don't like it either because gender is a social construct and means fucking nothing but there aren't any decent ways to categorise this shit in the back end so it is what it is, don't think too hard about it. Painge. **

What this tool can do:

Refit gear made for one body shape to another more or less.

What this tool can NOT do:

'Press Button To Make Magic Happen'

What is all this shit?

The tool is laid out in much the same way as its ancestor. The 3D viewport is self-explanatory. The collections are laid out in a such a way that you shouldn't need to actually open any collection save for the Skeletons Closet. Specifically, I've labelled the stuff you don't need to touch with 'NO TOUCHY'.

The contents of the No Touchy folders are just bodies I haven't added shapekeys for but intend to work on. You can open it but it's not going to be of much use unless you want to mess around with the models (but you could do that anyway by exporting them yourself).

A copy of each body that is used in at least one of the morphs is included in the Bodies folder. This is only really useful if you want to make sure your gear has morphed nicely on the actual body you're morphing to. It's also there so I can keep track of which bodies I have actually added shapekeys for. I could use a spreadsheet but I don't so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. These meshes have been modified slightly and aren't advised for use in game.
