View a Time-Series for Data Along a Transect

  1. Display at least one transect on the map. Either select a transect file from the Transects widget or draw your own transect (see instructions below).
  2. Getting the time-series depends on how the transect was displayed:
    • If you selected a transect file from the Transects widget, then click on one of the transects on the map.
    • If you drew your own transect, then click on the View Time-Series for Drawn Transect button on the sidebar.
  3. A modal will pop up with content related to the resulting time-series. Read more about the modal contents in the Time-Series Modal page.

Draw Your Own Transect

  1. Select the Draw My Own Transect option from the Transects widget, which is located on the left sidebar.
  2. Double click a location on the map to add your transect's start point, and double click again on another location to add your transect's end point.
    • More instructions and helpful tips are provided on the sidebar. Click anywhere on the How to Draw Your Own Transects dropdown to see all the instructions.
    • To move the map with the Draw My Own Transect option selected:
      • Scroll down towards the bottom of the map to view all the available tools.
      • Then click on the first/leftmost icon to enable the Pan tool Pan tool. This allows you to move the map by clicking and holding down your left mouse button and dragging.
      • After moving the map to focus on a desired location on the map, make sure to click on the fifth icon from the left to enable the Polygon Draw tool Polygon Draw tool. This allows you to draw your transect.
  3. There are several actions that you can do with your drawn transect:
    • Save the drawn transect in a GeoJSON file by clicking on the Save Drawn Transect button on the sidebar.
      • A drawn_transect.geojson file will be saved to your default downloads folder.
    • View the time-series for data along the drawn transect by clicking on the View Time-Series for Drawn Transect button on the sidebar.
