Fixed visual misalignments with geometry. Prior misalignments were typically 1nm. Visually the circuits should mostly work as intended. In some cases increased insertion loss is expected due to the waveguide discontinuities at certain pins. This seems to be a general issue - pins will have horizontal faces for example but the waveguide itself will not be vertical. One can see this with the angled approach of the spiral waveguide terminations and also the angled approach of the adiabatic CDC waveguide terminations. Remaining errors are unresolvable mainly due to issues with the existing beta PDK element pin placements which I cannot adjust. For example, if I fix the waveguide misalignment, the pins won't match up. If I match up the pins, the waveguides will be misaligned. One of the reasons for submitting second copies of the 'die' is that in November some components had no data on one die but had data on the other die (for identical components). Also, I recall there being as much as 20dB variation in detected power levels leaving the lower power spectra very noisy. Having a second copy increases the odds of getting usable data, beyond simply having a second die to look at wafer nonuniformity (I have numerous microring submissions so variation should be easy to spot).
