The purpose of this phase is to evaluate a proposed dataset for alignment with a data aggregation product.

To do this you need to understand both the observations within the data set being considered and the goals of the data aggregation product. You will need to pay attention to the desired geolocation, time period, observations themselves, and associated methods. This will often require a first pass read of the data documentation and may include a review of the associated publications. In addition, you will also need to review the data collections identified on this wiki (for example: ISCN4).

After you have identified where this fits into a data collection goal, you will need to extend the ticket with a comment documenting this. Strive to be brief but complete with your comments, keeping in mind that the goal here is to evaluate a 'fit for purpose' of this data for a specific collection.

At the bi-weekly project meetings we will decide if the data is appropriate for a specific collection and then apply a label and add it to the project workflow if appropriate.
