GDG 活跃状态规则

Jackie Han edited this page Nov 9, 2017 · 2 revisions

一句话概述:Google 对 GDG 活跃度的要求是每 90 天至少要有一场社区活动(以 Meetup 登记来判断),所以请保证社区活动频率并按时登记。

As we continue to improve the GDG program, we will start to automate reminders to organizers when their chapter begins to go inactive, to provide the opportunity to become active again. At the end of this month, we will start sending these reminders. If your chapter has not hosted an event in a while, please do so as soon as possible to avoid being delisted.

What is happening?

We are moving to automate more processes within the GDG program. We are creating automated checks for chapter inactivity to maintain the health and integrity of the program.

What are the possible states for a GDG Chapter?

  1. Active: this means the chapter is visible on meetup.com/pro/gdg, and they are scheduling events at least once every 90 days.
  2. Delisted: this means that the chapter has not hosted an event in 90 days. They will be made invisible from meetup.com/pro/gdg, but Google will still pay for their Meetup account. They have 90 more days to host an event to become Active again.
  3. Deleted: this means that the chapter has not hosted an event in 180 days. The group will be removed from meetup.com/pro/gdg and Google will stop paying for their Meetup account. They will either need to pay for their own Meetup account or delete the group. If they want to come back, they will need to be re-onboarded as a new chapter.

What are the notifications and checks that are going into place?

At the end of September, we will set up automated emails that will be sent to the primary organizer with the following frequency:

  1. 60 days with no events
    • Inactivity warning: Reminder to host an event in the next 30 days to avoid being delisted
  2. 90 days with no events
    • Delisting notification: Notice that they will be delisted from the Meetup Pro map, and encouragement to host an event within the next 90 days to avoid deletion.
      • If an event is hosted in the next 90 days, the chapter will be made visible on the Meetup Pro map.
  3. 120 days with no events
    • Removal warning: Reminder that they are in danger of being removed from the GDG Network entirely, and encouragement to host an event within the next 60 days.
  4. 180 days with no events
    • Removal notification: Notice that they will be removed from the GDG Network and their Meetup group sponsorship will be revoked

What do GDG Organizers need to do?

Please make sure your chapter is hosting and logging events on Meetup at least once every 90 days -- that’s it!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your Regional Lead.
