Fix that uses ax.annotate to add a point on the map instead of ax.plot to account for crs.

ax.plot(longitude-360, latitude, 'ro', transform=ccrs.PlateCarree())

can you try that? printing a unicode character on the map isn't ideal but this seemed to give me the same result and then we can change the marker as we wish!
