DEIB Workflows in the WordPress Community

This page outlines the workflows and processes that the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Working Group and the broader WordPress community use to promote and implement DEIB initiatives. Our aim is to create a structured approach that facilitates participation, enhances inclusivity, and ensures our efforts are impactful and sustainable.

Overview of Workflows

Initiating DEIB Projects

  • Proposal Submission: Community members can propose new DEIB projects or initiatives by submitting a proposal through our designated platform.
  • Review Process: Proposals are reviewed by the DEIB Working Group, considering their potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with our DEIB goals.
  • Approval and Kickoff: Approved projects are announced to the community, and a project team is formed to kick off the initiative.

Inclusive Documentation and Content Creation

  • Content Guidelines: All DEIB-related content and documentation must adhere to our inclusive documentation guidelines.
  • Review and Feedback: Drafts undergo a review process that includes feedback from diverse community members to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Publication and Distribution: Finalized content is published through our official channels and made accessible in multiple formats when possible.

Hosting Inclusive Meetings and Events

  • Planning and Organization: Event organizers follow our inclusive event guidelines to ensure that meetings and events are welcoming and accessible to all.
  • Participant Support: We provide resources and support to accommodate the diverse needs of participants, including accessibility accommodations, language interpretation, and dietary considerations.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Post-event feedback is collected to continually improve the inclusivity and accessibility of future events.

Training and Development

  • DEIB Training Programs: We offer training programs for community members and leaders focused on DEIB principles, inclusive leadership, and community building.
  • Continuous Learning: Training materials are regularly updated to reflect the latest DEIB research, best practices, and community feedback.

Reporting and Resolution Process

  • Open Reporting: Community members can report DEIB concerns or incidents through an open and confidential reporting system to the Incidence response team IRT Form.
  • Resolution Workflow: Reports are handled with care, confidentiality, and a commitment to fair resolution, following our established resolution workflow.

Community Engagement and Feedback

  • Open Forums: We maintain open forums for community discussions, feedback, and ideas related to DEIB initiatives.
  • Regular Check-Ins: The DEIB Working Group conducts regular check-ins with the community to share updates, gather feedback, and adjust strategies as needed.
