The main problem with this is that the progress handler is registered on the connection.
That means that when we create a relation, this uses the progress handler.

Because the progress handler can be set on the connection while there are still relations that use the old progress handler - the relation needs a dependency on the progress handler so it doesn't get freed while we still need it.

That's kinda yikes, because that requires the progress handler to be a shared pointer, and the relation to always add the progress handler as a dependency.

Another solution would be to make the progress handler on the connection into a factory instead, that produces a new progress handler object for every relation that's created.
We still need to add it as a dependency to the relation so we make sure the python object stays alive..
Not that much changes here.. but I like this better anyways because it makes more sense to have a separate object per progress bar.

Would love to see this merged! We have some bulk load operations that can take several minutes, so getting this merged would be awesome 👍

Any update on this? Would be really nice to get this progress bar in the Python API.

I was investigating the following crash where a checkpoint task had its
underlying resources being destroyed while it was still running. The two
interesting threads are the following:

The problem is that if there's an IO exception being thrown in
`RowGroupCollection::Checkpoint` after some (but not all) checkpoint
tasks have been scheduled but before
`checkpoint_state.executor.WorkOnTasks();` is called, it results in an
InternalException / DuckDB crash as the `Checkpoint ` method does not
wait for the scheduled tasks to have completed before destroying the
referenced resources.
