1) Article: Digital Aristotle

I came across a fascinating video discussing the future of education and how the internet will shape it's future.
In a perfect school, each student will have his or her own personal tutor (like Aristotle). That tutor would be personalized to that student, would be able to set a good pace of learning for that student, and could provide immediate feedback of how that student is doing.
Before the internet, this would be impossible because
- There are not enough humans to personally tutor every child on earth.
- It would be way to expensive to do so
- Not everybody is not as good a tutor as Aristotle.
The internet is changing the state of education by slowly solving these problems. There is a virtually an unlimited amount of free information available to teach yourself just about everything. The internet solves the manpower problem and the cost problem, by connecting a huge audience of teachers with an even larger audience of students.

The list goes on
As for the personalized tutor part, the internet will eventually solve that too. There is already advanced software at the khanacademy and the codeacademy that attempts to give the student more personalized learning experience by tracking a student's progress. Right now, those websites are used as tools, rather than full replacement for teachers, but in the future, a time will come when people realize it will be more efficient and effective to let students learn on their own.
