The goal of single player mode is to provide a compelling and challenging single-player experience that still fits the spirit of the game.
One player (using both halves of the controller) will control a whole line of convicts.
The player can cycle through the line of convicts and control them one at a time with the left stick. If the player cycles to a new convict, the prior convict continues whatever movement (or non-movement) it was doing before (consider this "cruise-control").
The player can also direct all convicts to move in a specific direction with the right stick. This will override a convict that is on cruise-control, and cancels that cruise-control.
Using the D-Pad and Face buttons, the player can jump directly to controlling any of the 8 convicts in the line.
Using the triggers, the player can cause the active convict to jump or punch.
The goal is the same - to reach the end with as many convicts alive as possible.
