Quakespasm 0.94.3 SDL2 Apple Silicon

Attention

You should be using QSS-M instead. I assisted in porting it to Apple Silicon and QSS-M supports all the same features of Quakespasm and more.

The files for this project are retained below for historical purposes.

Running

Locate the id1 folder from your Steam or CD install of Quake. Copy it into the folder containing Quakespasm-SDL2-AppleSilicon.app. Make sure id1, id1/pak0.pak, and id1/pak1.pak are all lowercase. Then, Ctrl+Click to open Quakespasm-SDL2-AppleSilicon.app.

For macOS 12.0+ on Apple Silicon.

Note that this app is not notarized because I haven't paid for an Apple Developer Certificate. You may need to allow apps downloaded from anywhere.

If that still doesn't work, you may need to do the following:

sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/Quakespasm.app

Quakespasm 0.94.3-testing SDL2 Apple Silicon

May have issues on macOS 11.0 since I'm using 12.0 libraries. Will rectify later. Should work fine on 12.0.
