Collaborate Enhancements and Other Bug Fixes

Zavala Release 2.4

• Collaborate functions are now combined into the Share function to better conform to more recent platform conventions.
• When accepting a link to Collaborate, Zavala now correctly handles the link even if the link has to launch Zavala.
• When accepting a link to Collaborate, Zavala will select the newly accepted document for you.
• When a shared document is unshared or deleted, Zavala will now automatically delete it from the shared-to device.
• Added the keyboard shortcut and main menu item Delete Row.
• Fixed an issue where images wouldn’t get sent to iCloud if importing Outlines using Shortcuts.
• Undoing a row delete could cause the reconstituted rows to not sync properly. Now fixed.
• Fixed an issue where a character could come back while typing. Typically this only happened when backspacing quickly.
• Fixed a crash that could happen when the system was rebuilding the Documents View.
• Make loading and unloading of Outlines more robust to make sure Outlines don't unload while syncing.
• Corrected verbiage for Export PDF List menu item.
• Fixed a bug where the Sidebar might not be available on launch and then refuse to appear when prompted by the Show Sidebar command.
• When multiple Zavala windows are open at the same time, menu items and keyboard shortcuts may not work. This has been resolved.
• The Get Rows shortcut now uses a relative depth instead of an absolute one. This makes the intent of the shortcut more clear.
• The tab key shouldn’t indent the row when editing notes. Now it doesn’t.
• Fixed a bug where the Sidebar might not be available on launch and then refuse to appear when prompted by the Show Sidebar command.
• When dragging multiple Outlines from one Account to another all Outlines selected are moved instead of just the first one.
• Deleting a Note will now correctly sync the delete command and remove the Note from all other devices.

  • Made the disclosure button a little smaller on the Mac so that it is easier to select the top level row.
  • The Add Note Level menu item is just Add Note now. I have no idea why it was ever the other way.
  • Scrolling no longer deselects selected rows. So annoying when that happens.
• iOS
  • We no longer open a new window when accidentally double tapping on an Outline in the Documents List.

More New Settings

• The document Find function has also been rewritten to use the new native Find Interaction controls. On iOS that means the Find area is attached to the keyboard instead of at the top of the outline. You can also do whole word or case sensitive Finds. Since we were in there mucking around, we also added the Replace functions as well.
• Zavala will now automatically complete a parent row if all child rows have been completed. It will also automatically uncomplete a parent if it was previously completed, but one of its subtasks becomes uncomplete.
• Reduced the lag associated with creating new rows.
• You can now set spell checking preferences on a per outline basis
• You can now select the color that you want your font to be in the Settings.
• The Max Editor Width is now configurable in Settings.

Little Fixes

• The Editor will no longer skip lines when hitting the up or down arrows quickly to move the cursor.
• We made the text selection color brighter in dark mode to make it easier to see.
• Fix a rare syncing bug that could remove the wrong row from the row order table and corrupt an outline.

Get Focused - Bug Fixes

• Zavala now persists the Focus state for each outline so that you stay in Focus when you view another outline and come back.
• If Zavala detects a corrupted outline it will now offer to recover any lost data that it can find.
• Fix a bug that was preventing images from moving when inserting text before them.
