Not really an issue with code but it should be noted that the time zones and time may be wrong, causing sickbeard to not attempt to look for releases as it doesn't believe its aired yet.

simple fixes:
dpkg-reconfigure tzdat
ntpdate-debian

This brought my date and time-zone correct.

Correct, I have been considering running these commands for the user upon first boot but have not done so yet. Flagging this as an enhancement request so I don't forget about it.
