<h2>Summary</h2>
<p>I am a Data Scientist with a combined industry and academic experience, as well as exposure to working in intercultural and interdisciplinary teams.
I am adaptable and fast to learn new concepts, having started as a Geoscientist and developed deeper interests in numerical simulation and data science along the way.
My achievements range from using data to identify cost reduction opportunities of up to tens of thousands of dollars, conceptualizing and creating KPI dashboards that are used globally in the company, to successfully designing a machine learning model that outperforms state-of-the-art models.
Works related to my research have been published in various journals and major machine learning conferences such as ICLR, ICML, and NeurIPS.
My relevant skills and knowledge include Python programming, data visualization, cloud computing, statistics, machine learning, data cleanup, and communication.</p>

<li>Performed feature engineering through correlation and autocorrelation analysis, regularization, and hyperparameter tuning.</li>
<li>Developed a neural network model that outperforms state-of-the-art deep learning models by up to 4 orders of magnitude in forecasting environmental systems.</li>
<li>Incorporated prior physical knowledge to improve time series forecasting of a thermochemical energy storage, swamp water level, and groundwater contamination using NARX, LSTM, and Neural ODE.</li>
<li>Published 7 <a href="publications.html">scientific papers</a> in various journals and conferences, including ICLR 2021, ICML 2022, and NeurIPS 2022.</li>
<li>Wrote and maintain the <a href="https://github.com/CognitiveModeling/finn">Python implementation</a> of various deep learning models such as the Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN), Convolutional LSTM (ConvLSTM), Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN), and Fourier Neural Operator (FNO) using PyTorch and NumPy.</li>

<h3>PDE Benchmark for Scientific Machine Learning</h3></br>
</div>

<li>Collaborated with 7 researchers from 3 different research groups to generate large benchmark data with a total size of more than 3 TB.</li>
<li>Decided on the relevant evaluation metrics for the benchmark problems.</li>
<li>Wrote and maintain the <a href="https://github.com/pdebench/PDEBench">Python code</a> for the data generation (using SciPy) and for the benchmark model training and inference (using PyTorch and NumPy), which already received 700+ stars and was forked 80+ times.</li>
<li>Published a <a href="https://openreview.net/forum?id=dh_MkX0QfrK&referrer=%5Bthe%20profile%20of%20Francesco%20Alesiani%5D(%2Fprofile%3Fid%3D~Francesco_Alesiani1)">conference paper</a> at the NeurIPS 2022 Track on Datasets and Benchmarks.</li>

<li>Guided 7 students on their thesis projects with the final grade ranging from 1.0 - 1.7 (B+ to A+ in the US grading scale).</li>
<li>Collaborated with an engineering firm to develop an <a href="https://github.com/timothypraditia/lstm_swl">LSTM model</a> for predicting swamp water level, which to date is still applied by the firm.</li>
<li>Published 1 scientific paper in a journal and gave 2 conference presentations based on the supervised projects.</li>

<li>Decided on an interesting topic about Juventus to analyze and the kind of data was required to perform the analysis.</li>
<li>Wrote the <a href="https://github.com/timothypraditia/juve-analytics">Python code</a> to clean unstructured data obtained from web scraping and use them for analysis (using pandas).</li>
<li>Visualized the result of the analysis and presented the analysis both on Reddit and in an <a href="juve-analytics.html">article</a>.</li>
