Hello,

I wonder if RadioDroid is compatible with BalenaSound (to cast webradios listed on https://www.radio-browser.info/ )
See https://www.balena.io/blog/turn-your-old-speakers-or-hi-fi-into-bluetooth-receivers-using-only-a-raspberry-pi/
I'm currently installing balenaSound on an old RPi 2 model B to give a try to both balena cloud and BalenaSound
and was looking for information here.
Any idea? opinion about this project?

Kind regards

Looks cool.

Without reading too deep, BalenaSound exposes RPi as a bluetooth audio receiver, which Android should not have troubles working with.

Maybe it has other usage modes? Tell us if you find something interesting.

There's also Boombeastic from balenalabs also ... https://github.com/balenalabs/boombeastic
See my questions there balena-io-experimental/boombeastic#59
Not sure my RPi 2 model B have bluetooth capabilities.
Maybe MPD (Music Player Daemon) have better chance to work on such a device !

Playing on MPD is so much better than via Bluetooth:

  1. no quality loss in contrast to any Bluetooth codec
  2. no battery drain on the mobile device which has Radiodroid installed
  3. mobile device can go offline or out of reach of the RPi but the radio will keep playing
  4. no load on the wireless LAN if the RPi is connected via LAN cable
  5. device running MPD needs no Bluetooth hardware
  6. you can use many old Android devices with broken screens, outdated AndroidOS etc. to run MPD on which for many people means they don't even need to buy an RPi or something similar
