What maintenance needs to be done?

Decommission old/test lib-sftp servers, which are the following three servers:

• lib-sftp-prod1-focal
• lib-sftp-test1
• lib-sftp-test2

Level of urgency

• High
• Moderate
• Low

Why is this maintenance needed?

• These VMs are no longer needed now that we have migrated lib-sftp to Jammy.

Acceptance criteria

• lib-sftp-prod1-focal

  • Already powered off. Wait 60 days from 1/8/25 and delete from disk on VSphere. No further decommissioning is needed.

• lib-sftp-test1

  • delete lib-sftp-test1 VM on VSphere
  • delete DNS in network registration for the VM
  • delete firewall rules for the VM
  • Delete VMs in the inventory: inventory/all_projects/lib_sftp

• lib-sftp-test2

  • delete lib-sftp-test2 VM on VSphere
  • delete DNS in network registration for the VM
  • delete firewall rules for the VM
  • Delete VMs in the inventory: inventory/all_projects/lib_sftp

Implementation notes, if any

• Wait 60 days before deleting lib-sftp-prod1-focal from VSphere, since we would like to retain this as a backup in case we need to restore anything from it.
• The two test machines, lib-sftp-test[1,2] can be decommissioned in 30 days from 1/8/25 as per our usual process.

Action Taken:

• Powered down the VMs as part of the 30 days disconnection process.

#Plan:

• After the 30-day period, the VMs will be deleted from disk as the next step in the process.
