Doesn't load in Firefox (Nightly, version 58+) #1
Comments
Friendly ping 😄 I just wanted to check to see if other people are encountering the same issue of this not loading in Firefox? |
Are you referring to the authoring tool in this repo or the viewer on normanvr.com? |
The viewer on normanvr.com. I didn’t clone this repo. I ought to do that and check! Didn’t think of that - good idea :) |
Sorry for the super late reply! I just checked and the authoring tool does indeed work in FF. It's not the most approachable app from a UX standpoint though so please let me know if you want a personal walkthrough and I'll jump on a hangout w you. |
I was testing this on my Vive, not with my Oculus Rift. Could that be why? The controllers weren't set up for that? (I didn't see any warnings or errors in the Console.) Which headsets/platforms can the (a) Norman authoring too, and the (b) Norman viewer tool be viewable from? I tried on Samsung Gear VR, and I was able to see the viewer but not authoring tool. That to be expected?
Thanks for the offer! Yeah, that'd be helpful. Feel free to reach me at [email protected] some time. |
For now the authoring tool only works on Oculus Rift + Touch. In am trying to secure funding to continue development and make it more widely accessible, including adding Vive support. Stay tuned! Re Gear VR: yes that would just work with the viewer. |
any news on that?

No traction so far and I’ve been submerged in other work. BUT! Oculus Quill has since added frame by frame animation. You should check that out. Quill is amazing. I think there’s a way to get it going on Vive. |
First off, this looks absolutely stunning - from your videos. I love the excitement and originality of your ideas here.
Since Firefox 55, we've had WebVR support shipped in release-channel Firefox Windows (64-bit).
I didn't dig too deeply, but I tried loading this in Firefox Nightly (58) yesterday. I entered VR and just saw a completely blank canvas in the headset. I waited for things to load. No discernible errors or warnings in the Dev Tools' Console.
Which browsers can I expect Norman to work with? I saw the Origin Trial
