Dear devs: Stop making mythic points more of a thing than they are #7710

This has been discussed ad nauseum. Please refer to one of the past discussions. Closing as this adds nothing new to what has already been iterated over and over. As for mythics in wrath, we will cross that bridge when we get there. Closing. |

Mythic points make no sense in a finite loot system for a server aiming for player retention. Loot gratuity makes sense in a system when loot is infinite and randomized, such as an ARPG or the ARPG version of wow, retail.
It doesn't take incredible foresight to understand how having guaranteed loot kills incentive to raid and is bad for retention. I feel it, my friends feel it, everyone feels it and its basic toddler logic that in a game where epic lootz is the incentive for doing anything, once you have everything, you will feel "accomplished" and have very little incentive to still play, apart from basic human decency to help your community, which is not the case for 2025 individuals, and parsing, which is not the case on chromie where parsing means who exploits more bugs.
We waited 2 months for a new release and then you tell us we can just get the 1-2 bis items we wanted from 4 raids(2 weeks). This is the logical aftermath:
If there is no carrot to chase, no one will play cause "they like the game", if they would, they wouldn't be in withdrawal behaviours from not getting a 2% performance improvement item.
Understand there is a design to this game that made it successful and liked by those who liked it.
Understand you are you Wotlk server because people like Wotlk.
Understand that people joining a Woltk do not expect these "features".
Understand that WoW was not an ARPG.
Understand that whiners whining about loots are depressed individuals with nothing going on in their lives and cling to decades on end to this game and they think that next loot item will fill up their emptiness and have no clue about game design.
Understand that the whinner will still play even without their bis cause they have nothing else to do with their lives.
Understand that giving new players free loot is a short sighted satisfaction that makes the game feel like a meaningless transaction of time for loot that feels undeserved.
Understand that everyone being the same takes away any satisfaction of getting that lucky roll.
Understand that the game is not meant to be a BIS list simulator.
Understand that not having BIS is good, it gives people a challenge to find alternatives.
Understand that giving free loot on the expense of long term play time is not substitute for quality releases to keep people happy.
Understand that this type of "features" will always be requested and upvoted cause they are easy and the opposite require restraint and foresight and logical thinking. Not everyone is a designed for a reason.
Understand communism is bad.
Understand sexual tension is good.
Understand giving unlimited candy to toddlers is bad.
Understand short term easy gains are always bad long term.
Understand that anything worth anything for human being is worth the chase and is worthless once gotten and is the most worthless when simply given.
Understand common sense.
For the love of common sense and everything that is not cheap in this world, i hope you do not keep this kitsch in Wotlk. Wotlk has triple the content and loot of TBC and there is literally no reason to have mythic points for current content gear there.
Please, respect our(by our i mean not the manchilds) time and efforts. Please, uphold some values, even though it's 2025.
If you're going to be pay to win, at least get cash for it.
