So, i’d like to bring an idea to modify how arena teams work so far, and how can this be improved during TBC/WOTLK expansion, a change that might be friendly for everyone in general (or that is my intention):
Let's introduce the main issues that this idea wants to cover:
1.- "OG-Group/Team Arena System” = how arena teams originally work during TBC and WOTLK
This system as we know has the next problems:
You create a 2vs2 team for example, you have certain arena partners, usually you stay and climb for high rating, but the problem begins when you wanna leave the arena team: you can’t/wouldn’t like to because: First and more importantly, you lose the arena rating you have earned, also the stats you have achieved like wins and games played during the week or ranking (if it matters at that very moment), let's say u accept and leave since you want so much to play with another player, you will lose all ur progress.
Since you are in a Team, if your partner is not online or you will no longer be able to play with him (studies/lack of activity at some point), you are probably going to leave your team even if you don’t want to... and start from the beginning. This for example is likely to happen: both players on different arena teams won’t be able to queue, unless one of them leaves his arena team, wich usually is not a desired decision.
30% played games requirement to get weekly arena points: Yes you can add (limited) new members to the arena team, but if any of your members for any reason goes below this "30% of played games requirement", it will leave 1 of your partners (at least) without arena points. This will also lead to the rest of the team to stop playing before this happens.
2.- The New “Personal Arena Team System”:
- How is gonna work and solve these problems:
The best way to truly achieve more liberty for the players, to queue with different friends: would be to adapt the 2s and 3s brackets the way Solo Queue works: Just have an NPC that automatically creates a "Personal Team" (2s/3s) and then you can queue with whoever you want (checking correct party size).
- Something like this as a practical example:
Player 1 and Player 2 want to play 2s: Both create their personal teams through the NPC. They make party and queue, when winning or losing both their teams increase/decrease rating. They can at another time queue with someone else and now the involved players/teams would be affected.
3.- Conclusions:
So yeah, basically It would be somehow similar to SoloQ in some aspects but a bit different at the same time in others.
In the end is about giving everybody the chance to play with whoever they want and keep their personal rating with the ability to reset team if they want to (same as SoloQ).
Aiming to keep the ladder more alive also, allowing people to try differents comps/playing with friends without having to use multiple characters or risk losing arena rating.
I know that this might be nearly impossible to be scripted, or probably will take a big amount of time invested, but i’m just bringing the idea to the table.
Thankyou everyone.
Have a nice day.
Franagan.
