better word for "confirm" changes

Context

First user interactions revealed that "confirming changes" might not be intuitive to non devs.

• confused with "saving changes"
• confirming as part of having "checkpoints" needed explanation

Proposal

Research a potentially better word than confirming changes that express "a special point in time".

"Checkpoint" might be more intuitive. "You can create checkpoints to navigate the history without seeing every small change".

Checkpoint is similar to milestone that Ink & Switch used in their research project. Milestone sounds "too large" IMO.

Some alternatives:

• Create Snapshot
• Create Save Point
• Create Tag (tag important points to make navigation easier, similar to the time travel feature)
• Create Log Point

I like Checkpoint as well. People might recognize it from video games, where you always go back to the last checkpoint.
As soon as people see the created checkpoint in the overview/graph, they will get the concept.

We get a better UX, if people:

1. can guess the concept before clicking the "confirm" button
2. get the feedback, that a checkpoint has been added to the history
