Sync is screwy, styles duplicate, styles list spontaneously clears out, changes to a style don't show up on the other computer

How do I debug that?

I am syncing through Google Drive. I have already gone into google drive, deleted the stylus "partition", and resynced everything. Both computers are latest Chrome on Windows 10.

Does this thing have (regression) tests to check new commits for introducing such behavior?

In devtools -> Network panel of the background script. In Chrome ManifestV3 it will be seen in any page of the extension. In ManifestV2 it can be opened through chrome://extensions page by clicking the background page label.

No, but new commits don't change sync, it's a separate external library. If you can use sync right now in an older version installed as an unpacked extension while not being able to do it in the current version, please describe the sequence of action in a new issue.
