Help with authentication for local development

Hi there!

Thanks for all the amazing work you've put into OpenFoodFacts and Open Prices!

I wanted to dig into the app locally but I cannot do much if I'm not logged in. How do you authenticate within the app when developing locally? I didn't see instructions in INSTALL.md, so maybe I am missing something.

Hi Dani !

Open Prices relies on the main Open Food Facts user base.
So even when running locally, the username & password will be checked with the main openfoodfacts.org website.

Are you trying to run the backend, the frontend, or both ?

Fyi if you want to run just the frontend, you can have it connect to the staging environment using yarn dev --mode staging (undocumented...) and it avoid running the backend.

Also, setup can be different if you use Docker or not ? (I personnally don't)

Thank you for your prompt response. I was actually trying to run both the backend and the frontend. I have the impression that the request to the main authentication server was being rejected. Maybe an http vs https problem? Will get back to you asapwith my logs to see if we can find the issue together.

Likely that you tested during a server error (OFF add a few hiccups/504 errors this week)

Seems like that was the issue, thanks! I remember also having trouble login in to prices.openfoodfacts.org.

Now my local instance works beatifully! I'll be in touch if I have any question or suggestion :)
