Problem/Request

We’re planning to make the notification tray currently in the edX header available to the Open edX community by converting it into an npm package. Right now, it’s only in our private repository, and this change will:

  • Enable its integration across Open edX and edX MFEs.
  • Simplify maintenance by centralizing updates.
  • Reduce redundancy, similar to how the header and footer are packaged.

We’d appreciate any guidance on the process for creating and integrating npm packages into Open edX repositories. Feedback, best practices, or examples would be incredibly helpful!

Hi @eemaanamir - if you want the package to be under the Open edX npm namespace, the repo will need to be public. Will that be happening?

Also, I surmise this other request is related, right?

I'm closing this request. We will create a public edX repository that the Open edX team can review the code.
