<p>一、商業軟體聯盟的一封恐嚇信</p>
<p>原來龍潭國小的資訊教育是與一般學校無異，大家對微軟的視窗作業系統也都已經習以為常，而且全校的人也從來沒有人想過要用自由軟體，就在2001年 5月法務部進行盜版軟體大掃盪之前，學校資訊組收到了一封由商業軟體聯盟(微軟是最大的老闆)發出的警告信，信中寫著若是學校繼續使用非法的軟體，資訊組 長及單位主管將會有牢獄之災，看到這樣的信，心裏覺得蠻生氣的，想想看，學校的資訊組長每天忙得要死，居然還有可能會因為幫同事安裝非法軟體而被抓去關， 這樣還有天理嗎？於是我拿著這封信去找校長，我說：「校長你看看這封信，現在除非學校把全校的軟體版權都買足了，否則我這個資訊組長是幹不下去了。」，校 長說：「好吧，那你算算看全校的軟體全部合法要花多少錢？」，我回去算了一下，跟校長說至少要三十萬，沒想到校長居然回答我說：「學校實在沒有這麼多錢， 我們是不是可以來試著使用免費的自由軟體？」我愣了一下，雖然當時我對自由軟體是個門外漢，不過我想了一下，如果學校的資訊教育要走得長遠，採用自由軟體 也許是一條可行的路，因為當時我正處於工作的低潮，每天面對的就是修電腦、重灌視窗系統、掃毒等這些重覆而無聊的工作，於是我就一口答應了下來，決定將龍 潭國小的資訊教育方向做一個重大的改變。</p>

<td style="font-size: 12px; color: #444444; line-height: 200%;">打著電腦網路安全和隱私的名號，微軟在 2003 年初提出了「全球政府安全計畫」(Government Security Program; GSP) (註1)，讓非／政府部門(公領域部門)使用者得以閱覽部分微軟專利軟體的源碼。近日，微軟又宣布將辦公室軟體 Office 2003 版也納入這些開放源碼的名目中，包括 60 餘個國家政府及非政府組織有權要求閱覽辦公室軟體的源碼，並且得以和微軟總部的軟體工程師進行技術交流(註2)。</td>

<p class="MsoNormal">對於已經熟悉C/C++ 或是 Java 的程式人員來說， PHP 是一種很容易上手的程式語言。針對開發網路應用程式，它內置的函式庫和較不嚴謹的語法縮短了不少開發時間。現在 PHP 最新版本是 5.1.4，不過還有很多以 PHP 版本 4 來開發的開放原始碼軟體。因工作上的需要，經常要撰寫一些 PHP 程式（以版本 4 的為主）。以前有花一些時間去研究相關的 PHP 開發及除錯工具（都以開放原始碼的為優先選擇），以下是一些個人經驗分享：</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">自由軟體（Free Software）雖名之曰“Free”，但其意義並不是「免費」，而是指其後的使用人以遵守某自由軟體的授權條款作為「代價」，換取重製、散布、改作等利用該自由軟體的自由。詳言之，只要遵守程式開發者所選擇的授權條款，任何使用人均得為上述之使用，並得以任何目的使用之，而且授權人不對被授權人收取權利金。</p>

<td style="font-size: 12px; color: #444444; line-height: 200%;">義大利的美食，總是讓人一嚐就難以忘懷，為了讓寫電腦程式也能像烹調一樣成為義大利固有的文化，義大利中北部的法拉拉 (Ferrara)古城舉辦了「程式醬」 (Code Jam) 活動 ，活動的標語就是「美味的程式碼, 有媽媽的味道喔！」，這個活動從請來了自由軟體界 Perl和 Python 兩大陣營中赫赫有名的大師級人物，包括 Andrea Arcangeli,Dave Cross, Alex Martelli, Allison Randal, Randal Schwartz, Michele Simionato, Simo Sorce 和 Larry Wall。</td>
