<td style="font-size: 12px; color: #444444; line-height: 200%;">台灣政府在日內瓦 WSIS (資訊社會世界高峰會) 之後，對於資訊科技、自由軟體和 NGOs 組織之間的合作特別感興趣，這個可行的合作除了提供一個另類管道讓台灣在中國的打壓下仍能透過提供資訊科技技術的方式和國際上的 NGOs 組織合作外，也提供了台灣自由軟體社群壯大的一個方式--和台灣本土的社運團體合作。2003 年八月底我參加了荷蘭 Technical Tech 在克羅埃西亞威斯島舉行的夏季源碼營，這個夏令營的用意最主要在促進自由軟體和 NGOs 社群交集的合作互惠。自己親身參與的經驗或許可以提供出來成為台灣未來進行類似活動的參考。</td>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">小傑是自由軟體的愛好者，平常喜歡從網路上抓自由軟體下來玩。最近他從某自由軟體資源網站下載一套名為<span> "eRabbit" 的自由軟體，發現這套軟體用起來十分順手，也在網路上看到了一些討論，可惜的是這套軟體還沒有中文化。「如果大家都能一起來討論如何翻譯這套軟體就好了」 小傑受到自由軟體社群諸多熱心資深玩家啟發與鼓勵，決定在 OpenFoundry.org 上成立一個專門中文化 eRabbit 的專案，並邀請了幾個平常一起玩 eRabbit 的朋友加入。</span></span></p>

<td style="font-size: 12px; color: #444444; line-height: 200%;">IBM 的開放源碼整合開發平台（IDE）Eclipse，是一套應用極為廣泛的通用工具平台，設計之初便是為了能夠成為各式應用軟體，如網站、嵌入式 Java 程式、C++ 程式與 Enterprise JavaBeans 的整合式開發環境。日前 IBM 宣佈 Eclipse 未來可在基於 Java 的開放源碼 Jikes Research Virtual Machine 上執行，可望進而擴展該平台的應用範疇至 Linux 和 AIX 平台之上。</td>
