<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">Weblog（亦稱為 Blog）的確切定義，可說是簡單的 Web 日誌（a log of web），Weblog 的編撰人相當直覺地將 Web 上吸引他們目光的事件、連結，依時間順序加以記錄，通常還會添加個人的評論。從這一點看來，Weblog 與另一種目前同樣熱門的 Wiki 系統中的近期增補（RecentChanges），似乎大有類似之處，容易相互混淆。</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">Web log（blog，暫譯為部落格）背後的重要技術—RSS（Really Simple Syndication），目前正面臨有關控制權的相關爭議。反對 Dave Winer，RSS 規格的催生者之一，對於這項顯然未來有著廣泛應用空間的技術，擁有過分控制權力的一方，不滿日前 Winer 逕自凍結 RSS 核心，更決心另起爐灶，發展 RSS 替代性規格。雙方面的衝突除了技術之爭，更延燒到 Winer 的個人特質，使該項爭議越趨模糊。分析師認為內鬥性的衝突無助於使用者接受技術，更擔心企業體趁機切入市場，掌握市場標準。</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">全球資訊網（<span>World Wide Web）誕生之初，原是希望加強科學協同合作與促進資訊交流之用，然而直到目前為止，大多數的網站仍屬唯讀形式。使用者無法在這樣的網站上，自由地表達意 見、分享資訊，甚至是更進一步地產生新的文件、網頁，更動網站的結構等等。盡管到目前為止，有許多網站已經試圖讓使用者參與討論、投票、針對某主題發表評 論等，這些系統較為著名的包括 Slashcode、PHP-Nuke、PostNuke、PHPSlash、Scoop等。但是這種參與方式仍然不夠自由，這類系統多半預先設定了某些 主題，對於網站內容，一般用戶僅有些微的控制權。</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">由臺灣<span> Linux 使用者協會發起的 Debian 安裝大會，將於 9 月 6 日在全臺各地舉行。</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 新細明體;">主要發起人李健秋（<span>Andrew Lee）表示，由於這次的安裝大會規模較大，且各地的資源設備都不盡相同，因此活動形式與傳統的安裝大會不太相同，傳統的「安裝大會」是使用參與者帶來的 個人電腦，並由具備經驗的前輩協助安裝。Andrew 想舉辦的是「安裝說明會」，所有的學生坐下使用電腦教室的電腦來直接安裝系統到該電腦教室的硬碟中。兩種型態不同的活動，需要的場地與設備便不同。</span></span></p>
