I have an appModule for the r gui, (rgui.py) and I would be more than happy to put it here for inclusion in the core. It is based almost exclusively on the appModule for putty, with exception for a different piece of code to identify the correct control. Would you guys be interested in including it? Also, how would you like me to change the copyright message that was on the putty module (needs updated too 2015 by the way)?

@derekriemer: Do you still belief this should be included? I find RTerm to be very accessible. Jonathan Godfrey, one of the blind R experts, says that blind users shouldn't even bother about the GUI.

Sorry for the unintentional close

To make the gui act like a terminal isn't hard. I'd do a p4 @feerrenrut because maybe I'll fix it some day.

@derekriemer is this still an issue in NvDA 2024.4 Beta?
According to this source, the r gui might be accessible on Windows.
https://ropensci.org/blog/2024/09/05/screen-readers-tools/

And the RStudio IDE should be much more accessible now after RStudio 2023.12 version, this artice describes ecaxtly how to enable screen reader support in RStudio and talks also about all other accessibility features:

Updates from the initial author are missing since many years upon request, I am closing as abandoned. If you are still having this issue, please comment and we can reopen.

@Adriani90 Adriani90 closed this as not planned Won't fix, can't repro, duplicate, stale Jan 22, 2025
