In the repo it says to not use tidstation, so what is the correct way. There is no documentation.

You have to flash one of the BIN files, such as
NICMODH3_v7.9_240702.BIN
or the previous ones (this one I pasted is the last by now).
To flash it, use the official firmware flasher from tidradio.
