This dataset provides a detailed summary of healthcare entitlements issued by the UK in response to applications from the public, facilitating access to medical treatment abroad.
The data, covering the period September 2023 – MONTH YEAR, includes the following categories:
Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC): Available to UK residents travelling or staying temporarily in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, offering access to medically necessary state healthcare.
UK European Health Insurance Card (UK EHIC): Issued to individuals protected under the Withdrawal Agreement, enabling continued access to state healthcare in the EU, EEA, and Switzerland.
Provisional Replacement Certificate (PRC): Provided to those requiring urgent or emergency medical treatment in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, in cases where they do not hold a valid GHIC or EHIC.
S1 Form: For UK nationals residing in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, allowing access to healthcare in their country of residence, with costs covered by the UK.
DA1 Form: Issued for those who have suffered work-related injuries or occupational diseases while in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, ensuring access to relevant treatment.
S2 Form: Grants prior authorisation for planned medical treatment in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, with funding provided by the UK.
The dataset will be updated on a monthly basis but published quarterly to improve accessibility, transparency, and public understanding of the UK’s overseas healthcare arrangements.
