The Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) provides a one-off, tax-free payment, currently of £120,000, to claimants who have been found, in rare cases to have, on the balance of probabilities, been severely disabled by a vaccine for one of the diseases listed in the Vaccine Damage Payment Act 1979.
The VDPS is not a compensation scheme. A claimant could still seek damages in court.
For more information about the VDPS, eligibility criteria, the claim process, and the independent medical assessment, visit:
• Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) | NHSBSA
• Vaccine Damage Payment: Overview - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Under the Vaccine Damage Payments Act 1979, a claimant can only apply if the vaccine was administered in the UK (which includes England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales) or the Isle of Man, or if they were given a vaccine whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.
The data includes all VDPS claims, including claims made in respect of COVID-19 and other diseases listed in the Vaccine Damage Payments Act 1979.
This data publication provides transparency of the volume of claims and outcomes.
