Thailand has one of the largest developer communities in Asia Pacific. On the recent GitHub Octoverse report, they shared that Thailand has around 1 million active users on GitHub.

Whilst English is widely spoken, natively language experience for Thai would be very popular.

Please add a Thai language pack for VS Code.

Thanks to Anthony for creating this issue.

In addition to English and other languages, please scale the VS Code to support for Thai language officially, so it can better engage with the markets in Thailand and Thai developers can contribute to a language pack's translations.

Thank you, Anthony, for bringing up this issue. I truly appreciate your efforts, and I look forward to seeing VS Code support the Thai language in the near future, making it more accessible and inclusive for Thai developers.

Thanks Anthony for the care of the Thai community.
But this is my opinion.
In translation to Thai for the menu, it's quite hard to find a word that fits for 1 English word. Then it leads to a phrase for describing that only one word. And it will cause bugs of rendering or display, which might not be worth supporting, while Thai developers already are familiar with the English menu.

Not Anthony, but would like to inform your concern, which is valid by the way. As someone who's also has quite a background doing translation, it's okay to just transcribe the technical word or leave them as is to keep it short. Most Thai developers should be familiar with most of the terms in English already.

And if you're also wondering whether or not user can find the item, VSCode already put a description to each menu in English alongside your native language, as you can see from this image below. It's in Japanese.

I understand the challenges you mentioned regarding the translation of technical terms into Thai. However, I believe that providing a Thai language pack would significantly enhance the user experience for many Thai developers. While it is true that some terms may require longer phrases, this can be managed with careful design and testing to avoid rendering issues.

Moreover, having the option to use VS Code in Thai would make the tool more accessible and inclusive, especially for those who are more comfortable with their native language. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported, regardless of their English proficiency.

Also thanks for creating this issue. I have a lot of friends (even my siblings) that want (or need) to learn coding and facing language issues since many Thai people having issues when comes to needing to understand English, having Visual Studio Code makes Thai Language Pack, I think we will have many new developers comes into our community and also destroy first language barriers that they need to overcome.

Thank you a lot for making this Thai language for our community, it could benefit to new developers who aren't good in English. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
