Support for GitLab Community Edition?

I've seen a lot of changes in Renovate CE/EE since I took a look at it long time ago (when it was still named "Renovate on-prem"). to check where it will be better to use it instead of Renovate executed from a CI pipeline.

In the documentation, there is:

The following platforms are supported by Mend Renovate Community Edition and Enterprise Edition:

GitHub.com
GitHub Enterprise Server
GitLab Enterprise Edition
Bitbucket Data Center (in beta)

I wonder, if there is any of the GitLab Enterprise Edition specific API is used by Renovate or GitLab Community Edition (on-prem) can be also used?
