I think this idea could be expanded on to support thicker wire. The Voron r2.4 uses a pulley gear system for it's Z drives and the parts are readily available for end users. It would need to be adapted to fit on a flat board, a way to tension the belt, and a longer pin to accept the bender toolhead. A potential side effect of working with thicker wire is the potential need for stronger straighteners but that would need some testing to find out.
