Some potential housekeeping in our repo:

review common workspace settings
unify & modern config formats for eslint, prettier, etc (e.g. flat, *.config.mjs)
explore other improvements
update CONTRIBUTING.md (when outdated info found)

Value: easy, fun, unified developer experience

willing to contribute (will do so little by little 😄)
