Contribution Guidelines

We definitely welcome patches and contribution to this project!

When contributing to this repository, please first discuss the change you wish to make via issue, email, or any other method with the owners of this repository before making a change.

Please note we have a code of conduct, please follow it in all your interactions with the project.

Issue Submission Process

  1. Please be as detailed as you can be when reporting issues.

  2. If possible, provide BOSH manifests that we can use to reproduce your issue. You are encouraged to redact any sensitive information, including network addresses, usernames, passwords, etc.

  3. Please be patient; sometimes we lose track of issues in GitHub. If you feel that your issue has been forgotten, please post an update to trigger a new notifications (but please don't abuse notifications).

Pull Request Process

  1. Ensure that existing example BOSH manifests still work; they are intentionally lightweight, but not overly simplistic. Together, they provide executable versions of common use cases.

  2. New BOSH manifest job properties, or changes to user-visible behavior of existing properties, must be accompanied by documentation changes detailing the new behavior, and any deviation from previous behaviors.

  3. All commits must be Signed-off: as proof of Developer's Certificate of Origin (see below). This is to protect our ability to legally accept and redistribute your changes.

  4. After review and approval, your pull request will be merged by a repository owner or project maintainer.

  5. Not all pull requests will be merged.

By making a contribution to this project, I certify that:

  • (a) The contribution was created in whole or in part by me and I have the right to submit it under the open source license indicated in the file; or

  • (b) The contribution is based upon previous work that, to the best of my knowledge, is covered under an appropriate open source license and I have the right under that license to submit that work with modifications, whether created in whole or in part by me, under the same open source license (unless I am permitted to submit under a different license), as indicated in the file; or

  • (c) The contribution was provided directly to me by some other person who certified (a), (b) or (c) and I have not modified it.

  • (d) I understand and agree that this project and the contribution are public and that a record of the contribution (including all personal information I submit with it, including my sign-off) is maintained indefinitely and may be redistributed consistent with this project or the open source license(s) involved.
