My workflow is to make SmugMug the master copy of my photos (i.e. I process in Lightroom then create folders and albums on SmugMug. I've been search for a cli tool to sync from SmugMug to my linux box/NAS.
Would it be difficult to extend the code to do this?

I too would like to see this. Having the ability to configure sync to control the direction of the sync (local to smugmug, smugmug to local, and bidirectional between local and smugmug) would be ideal. I have one private album to share photos with family of our new daughter. there is another album to share photos with the birth parents of her (she's adopted). All the photos in the family album should be in the birth parents album but not the other way around. So I want bidirectional sync between family and local and then one direction sync from local to birth parent.
Having the alternate of syncing (with same direction config) between smugmug albums is good too, without needing to sync local.
