python package gi conflicts with PyGObject 'gi' module #1

this is a standard thing used in e.g., gnome desktop and if you install our gi package via python then it prevents gnome-terminal from starting:

https://pygobject.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html

error looks like this:

from gi.repository import GLib, Gio
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'gi.repository'

immediate solution is to do this:

pip3 uninstall gi

but otherwise need a way of renaming the repository to goki-gi or something like that.
