Interval image could be shown starting from 5 m graph range, with 50 px height. When user zooms in on the chart, image height should gradually increase to 250 px until the range on graph is 1 m. Image should not disappear afterwards.
It is seemingly impossible to ensure precise fitting of the image scale to the chart horizontal axis. Perhaps the fitting could be based on center depth of the axis (or user click depth, if this is known), so that the same depth on the image would be centered (or aligned to user click vertical coordinate). Then the scales would be different, but user can conveniently examine the interesting features on both the chart and the image. User is free to drag the image, the chart would not move, but dragging the chart recenters the image.
