Interest in failable transactions?

Would it be possible to have something like try_read_tx or try_write_tx? I use fjall for storing data from tracing, and every now and then I forget and put a tracing statement somewhere when I have a transaction open, which means that the system will deadlock when the tracing subscriber goes to write in the db.

It would be nice to have a way to say "if you are blocked, bail", for cases where it isn't urgent to store things.

For your logs, which are surely conflict free and probably insert-only, you could escape the transactional context when writing into the partition of your logs.

Interesting! How does that work if a transaction to the same TransactionalKeyspace (but not the same partition) is live when I write directly through the inner'd PartitionHandle?

Operations to the inner partition are blissfully unaware of transactions.
