Steps to reproduce

  1. Add "features": {"feature_dehydration": true} to config.json
  2. Create a new user account
  3. Log in creating a new session.
  4. Verify using a security phrase.

Outcome

The new session is not verified. Additional verification (in security settings), although "successful", does not change anything - the only way to mark the device as verified is to use other active session (comparing emojis), but that status gets wiped after log out.

I'm assuming this is no longer a thing, not least because, afaik, feature_dehydration no longer does anything.
