Most PHP frameworks seem to be quite large and difficult to install. Based on current findings I think cherrypy would be a good alternative but would require all code be written in python.

i think cherrypy is a little over the top maybe use a smaller framework like bottle or flask or something...
also there is a python version of plexWatch + plexWatchWeb in development here: https://bitbucket.org/raphaelmutschler/plexivity
