The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences asked to terminate their Dryad membership and stop covering DPCs for the Journal of Systematics and Evolution. The DPCs were being processed through Wiley.

The cutoff date is January 1, 2025, meaning that any datasets first submitted from January 1, 2025 onwards should be billed directly to researchers.

The Institute has been made aware and agreed that they will pay for any datasets that have entered curation stage by the cutoff date.

Please could you:

  1. Remove them as members from the website
  2. Send me a list of pending datasets so that we know which ones are getting closer to get into curation stage between now and the cutoff date.

The offboarding process is described here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZFeK5bMvIC5Pu3xv3fofmzR8pPebaBq44p6MH2K6Rwc/edit?tab=t.0#bookmark=id.e89668rwv5gc in case you need to reminder of the activities you need to act on on top of the ones above, thank you!

The only journal supported by this publisher is the Journal of Systematics and Evolution. For this journal there are

  • 3 action required datasets
  • 9 in progress datasets

None of these have been previously published. 4 have been previously submitted for curation.

We can remove the journal from covering DPCs simply by changing its Payment plan from Tiered to None. I'm not sure how that would affect the above datasets and payment for them, if they ever are published, but I think it means the 4 that have been previously submitted should be covered by the journal while the others would not be.

Thank you @ahamelers Please can you send me the list of those 12 datasets so that I can confirm with the institute which ones we feel they should still pay for?

Also, please can you confirm that the update on the payment information for the journal has been made, as we should have paused sponsorship from Jan 1, 2025 onwards. Thank you!

Confirm -- the payment plan is changed so any new users will need to pay individually.

List of datasets is attached. None of them look likely to be published, since they have not had activity in many months.

Hi Ryan, so for the ones with no submission date I assume the authors never finalised the submission.

As for those 4 that have submission dates, the papers may still be going through review, correct? Thanks!

Correct.

Agreed that Maria will notify the journal that the "Action required" datasets may be published at some point, but the others will not.

Please confirm that the details for sponsorship and parent organization for the Journal of Systematics and Evolution will also be updated here? https://datadryad.org/stash/journals?direction=asc&sort=sponsor_id

Many thanks!
