We will soon present CF3 functionality at the VKI, this issue will group the ideas for the topics to add. Some ideas:

  • Demo of the GUI controlling a parallel simulation on the server
  • Show how to control a solver from python, emphasizing the usefulness for applications like optimization loops and error estimation
  • UFEM steady and unsteady in parallel, on a large mesh

I think we should put in some RKRD stuff (parallel of course).

I have some really nice SD simulations to show

  • 2D Euler flow past cylinder on very coarse mesh, with high order SD (5th order)
---> post-processing in coolfluid via python: calculation of entropy, mach number, ...
  • 2D Acoustic pulse with vorticity/entropy pulse.
---> SD high-order information can be used to interpolate to 1D line probe mesh.

excellent!

Fro RKRD, we would run also the 2D LEE voritcity/entropy pulse.
We could even demonstrate how to simulate the same problem with both SD and RD, with minor tweaking in a python file ;)
That is if @tbanyai agrees.
