Rails app must be compiled to create a war file. This process is explained in the following blog post: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-jruby-to-run-a-rails-application-on-apache-tomcat-7-and-ubuntu-14-04
Then it must be deployed to remote amazon server.
