I launched the application and I see the jiggler process running in Activity Monitor, but I don't see it show up in the menu bar at all.

Do you know if Jiggler works on the latest OS?

There have been reports of problems of various sorts on macOS 12, although this particular problem has not been reported. You are running the latest version of Jiggler, I assume? I am not on macOS 12 yet, and don't expect to be for some time. However, it's open-source on GitHub, as you have found, so perhaps someone in the community will look into what's going on and provide a fix in a pull request. Otherwise, it will probably be quite a while (months, at least) until this is fixed; sorry.

Same issue on 13.3.1 Ventura...

I'm running on 13.3.1 now, actually – just got a new machine a couple of days ago! – and Jiggler is in the menu bar just fine. I did notice that the black "drop-out" zone in the middle of the menu bar, on the MacBook Pro, where the camera is located I guess, seems to "eat" menu bar items; they don't just show up on the left side of the black zone, they just get "eaten" and don't display at all. So you might need to get rid of other menu bar items to make enough space for Jiggler to show. Could that be the issue here?

Anyhow, I really don't have time for new work on Jiggler right now, so it might be necessary for somebody to provide a pull request, if there is a bug here to be fixed. :-< If it isn't showing up in the menu bar for some people, I have no idea why that would happen (apart from the above guess), and I have no idea how I'd fix it...

So far, for everyone who has reported this issue, Jiggler's icon has been positioned inside the black "drop-out" zone at the top of the new MBP's screen. It is Apple's bug that menu bar items can be positioned there. Jiggler can't do anything about it; macOS is in charge of positioning menu bar items. The only workaround is to remove some other menu bar items, to bring Jiggler into view. Presumably Apple will fix this problem at some point.

I have a running Jiggler process with no menu bar icon on Ventura 13.5.2.

@graysonchao See my above comment from May 30.

Hey @bhaller, thanks for the response! After some experimentation, I realized that the Jiggler icon only appears when using my external monitor. I've attached pics of the system tray in both cases to illustrate why I don't believe the Jiggler icon is hiding behind the notch. I believe the photo from the external display shows that there's space for at least one more icon before the notch.

External monitor:

Built-in display (camera photo to illustrate the menu layout after accounting for the notch)

For what it's worth, now that I'm aware of this strangeness, Jiggler works perfectly fine for my use case. Thanks for building this tool and for keeping up with the repo issues!

@graysonchao Interesting. All this menubar positioning stuff is Apple code; I have no control over it. Looks like they may have a bug, above and beyond the bug of putting things behind the notch. Hard to say. Their code might decide that the room remaining to the right of the notch is inadequate (even though it looks adequate) and decide not to show the item. Who knows. Thanks for the report, though, it is clarifying.
