New Maintainer Wanted :-) #41
Comments
Also cc @kendavidn |
I'm afraid I have to pass on this myself as I have too many other commitments. But the R Consortium grant route might be interesting to some folks indeed. Here's a list of awarded projects (of all kinds of sizes): https://www.r-consortium.org/all-projects/awarded-projects |
What kind of skills should the maintainer possess? I asked this because I am not a software engineer. Just love using R and writing scripts for analyzing data and stats. |
👋 @Dennishi0925, thanks for your interest! Note that I won't respond fast, as I'm away. This is not an rOpenSci package but this rOpenSci blog post covers what package maintenance entails: https://ropensci.org/blog/2023/02/07/what-does-it-mean-to-maintain-a-package/ As for skills, you can learn as you go. I'd recommend reading/skimming through https://r-pkgs.org/ for instance. I could help with tips, PR reviews, etc. |
Hi @maelle, I think I could take this. Have a lot of experience developing and maintaining proprietary packages and have actually used |
Thanks a ton @baranovskypd -- maybe @Dennishi0925 could contribute to the repo then? |
@baranovskypd as there's been no answer from @Dennishi0925 -- shall I transfer the repository to your account? |
If this is OK with @Dennishi0925, I'd say yes? |
I've requested the transfer to your account, as I prefer not to delay this any further (lest you change your mind 😜 ) I'd say @Dennishi0925 can still contribute to the repo. Thanks so much! Please ping me if you have an HTTP or package development question, I'd be happy to help. |
Sorry for the late reply. I can contribute to the repo. Thank you two!

@baranovskypd tagging you in case you missed the repo transfer request 😸 |
Thanks for the update @maelle , could you please resend the repo transfer request? Somehow I haven't got a confirmation email. Although I did get the email with this comment where you tagged me - so I don't think these is due to notification settings (I will double-check). |
Transfer aborted then re-requested :-) |
I created this package for a course, since then I haven't used it, and I don't use WordPress. Therefore I feel this package isn't getting the maintenance it'd deserve (given it's used a bit).
I'd gladly transfer this repository to someone willing to maintain it. I could, if that person wanted me to, provide tips on general package development, interaction with an API, testing such a package (in PR reviews; in, say, monthly short calls).
I think this person could apply for an R Consortium grant. I could give feedback on a proposal https://www.r-consortium.org/all-projects/call-for-proposals
