Hi,
bought 2 Baikal X10 and both have the "Miner Down" issue (Miner: 111 Connection refused). Configured them, so pool data is definitely correct, tried 3 different pools by now. The miners simply won't start mining. The blue LEDs are just blinking the whole time. To exclude network issues on my side, I tried two different locations (at home and my dad's place).

Neither via DHCP nor via Static IP I could get the miners to start hashing...

Could anyone please help me, getting the issue fixed? Mailed Baikal, but didn't receive a response unfortunately.

Thank you very much!

Hi,
I have the same issue with Baikal Giant B:
"Miner down" - Miner: 111 Connection refused
and I can't see it on my network, it's not discoverable.
Please help!!!
Thank you in advance for any help

In my experience with baikal miners, that error means that cannot connect to any pool, for ex i have comcast at home, and for some reason they are blocking access to some pools like nicehash and zpool, i try it with a different provider and everything work perfect without touching the config that was working before...
You can always reload the predefined settings to reset it and see if mines...
Also this uses orange pi zero, and gets ip using dhcp, remember that most of the routers will assign same ip address until you reboot your router..

The problem is I didn't read your comment before and delete the first line. I tried to reboot the miner and it freezes. It was miner down message after the beginning and then when I did restoration of some pools and reboot it froze completely. I was able to see it on my network before. It is definitely not a Comcast or router problem. Something is wrong with Pi because it didn't boot up

@alexius3000

Thank you for your response. Do you know by any chance how to reset the Pi?

You have to re flash the sd card.

Here is the link with the firmware

https://drive.google.com/open?id=147WvUpIH2s9L2iI6R9Kgq8CLOLDS_kNP

Also to flash it you will need this tool

Thank you so much. I checked the miner and it looks like you won't be able to take it out. Is it still possible to do?

I have a giant x 10 and what i know are the same... you have to take off 4 screws en the front, remove the metal piece, slide the 3 boards be careful with fan cable, if its too tight you can unplugg it, then exactly where you see the network card that's the orange pi, you will be able to lift that card and remove it from the main controller, and there you will see a micro sd card inserted.

U have to take it off from main board in order to remove sd card...

I did it on my couple of times, just be carefull and you will be fine, also a micro sd card adapter will be needed to instert it into a pc..

Regards

Do I need to write this image on the sd card that comes with the miner or can I use a new one? Sorry for all my questions, I don't want to screw up it even more. Thanks

qbaze55 commented Jan 31, 2018

Jidros, usually its a connectivity issue, like you can read on this thread, on my experience my isp is randomly blocking connections to stratums, alexius3000 had a switch problem.. it's basically that the miner can't connect to any of the stratums, make sure you have at least 2 or 3 to see who works

@man-FIRE
Copy link

insert your stratum go to terminal log with user baikal password baikal and sudo reboot
and check

Try using different pools, i had same problem with nicehash, my giant x10 was not recognizing them until i move it to a datacenter, from then always worked

@man-FIRE

please check if your baikal ping dns nameserver else try with the nicehash ip directely

@jidros

jidros commented Jan 31, 2018

honestly i didnt notice because the first thing i did was changing the stratum . but i think yes . it was working it was not saying miner down . i also tried to do reupload but its like not working . i read on a form that need to format the SD card but i am not sure and dont know which program to use for the format.

man-FIRE commented Feb 1, 2018

use your windows disk format tool just remove all partition and format after that use windisk 9.5 not 1.0.0 and burn baikal b v1 iso on github

I got exactly same issue on 2 brand new Baikal Giant B once I deleted all preloaded POOLS like 10 of them I enter a new one from Nicehash web site i choose USA-San Jose closest server. In User I enter my nicehash BTC adress and once I press save i recieve Miner down on top of the web site and Miner 111 connection refused. I try to contact Baikal by email.and skype.to respond. What shoould I do in this case is settings value or hardware itself.

@alexius3000 I have the same problem. How did you fix it?
Thanks.

@alexius3000

@songfrank Port switch is a device which extends your network(Router->Port Switch->Miner) sometimes there is a conflict between a router and switch and you can't find your miner on your network. What I did is to connected my miner directly to the router and was able to find it on my network. That was my problem. If you are able to see it on your network, so you have a different problem then. I guess you deleted pools from your miner's settings? If so, go to "backup" tab, click Niceshash-SMA and restore, save it, then go to "miner" tab, click "miner commands" tab and "restart cgminer Linux process(30s)". This should restart your miner to default settings and it should start mining. Never delete first four row! You can modify them but not delete.

@linkintiger
Copy link

yup that was the problem thank you its working now i shouldn't delete them at all once but also i find out that is better to connect to Nicehash Europe-Amsterdam URL then to USA-San Jose more stable server connection per Nicehash.

@alexius3000 Thanks all of you. My problem was the software. After I flash the firmware to the sd card, it works.

@MaverickShotPro

@linkintiger So what did you to fix it? I'm still having trouble trying to connect to nicehash. It still says the status is dead for me. Other pools, such as the ones that came pre-configured, seem to work fine except for nicehash. What do I have to do to get it working?

@linkintiger
Copy link

i went to backup then restore and i reset the miner and after that when I saw miner is working on default URLs i modify each URL one by one without deleting startimg with the last one and I use Europe URL not USA URL like Songfrank said never delete always modify specialy the first one.

@MaverickShotPro
Copy link

Okay I figured it out, after messing around with multiple nicehash stratums, initially I was able to get Blake256r8 working instantaneously. I went ahead and put Lbry and Pascal from nicehash as my two top priority mining stratums, even tho they wouldn't connect and the status says, "dead". After that I went to bed as it was late, well I just woke up this morning and it says that all of my miners connected to the Lbry stratums and starting mining on that. It seems that it takes roughly 3 hours for it to finally connect. I'm just happy I was able to get it working! By the way my miners are Baikal Giant B's.

@linkintiger
Copy link

nice did you program autoswitching in options?

@MaverickShotPro
Copy link

No I didn't, I'll be primarily mining on the lbry algorithm so I don't need it. Also I did delete all the all the default stratums that came pre-configured on the miner and so far I'm not having any issues.

Hello,
I also have 2 Baikal Gaint X10 miners.

the first miner runs without problems.

the 2nd miner drops out about 4 times a day, only pulling the current helps. If I want to access it via chrome then it always means connection was rejected.

I copied the new image for the 2nd miner to the SD card PI Zero V1.1

Miner still fails all the time, but does not restart itself. You have to pull the plug.

I know how to fix this problem:

I bought a couple of Baikals some days ago and I had the same problem (Miner: 111 Connection refused). I worked for more than two days looking to fix the issue and currently I know where the problem is and how to fix it. I have to say that it is not so easy as restart minners, routers, open ports... (it could work for a while at the beginning) but if problem continues you should program (Ubuntu/Linux). If you want I can fix the problem for 1 ETH or equivalent in BTC... this is not a scam just trying to help and get some earnings. My alias in Telegram is @CryptosInvests (To check if problem can be fixed will be done for free )
