It is hard to determine whether the node is considered a JSON array or object.

Maybe it is possible by making some extra assumptions to figure out the correct JSON node.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Like it is now: place the responsibility to the user, as they already have all the information they have: like in the Testing Framework.
